On July 28, Jaazeal Jakosalem OAR, president of ARCORES International, and Javier Sánchez, executive director of the Solidarity Network, participated in the ARWYD (Augustine Recollect World Youth Days), a meeting of the ARY (Augustine Recollect Youth) in Salamanca, prior to their participation in the Lisbon WYD.
The meeting brought together, at the University Residence of the Augustinian Recollects, almost 300 young people from 13 countries, from July 27 to August 1. The afternoon session on July 28 was dedicated to solidarity and ARCORES, under the title: “Go and do the same.”
Young solidary people
After a dynamic, Jakosalem encouraged young people to be ive through their participation in ARCORES. Afterwards, Sánchez presented to them what the Augustine Recollect International Solidarity Network is, its foundations, its work program and specific actions and projects it carries out.

Later, he focused his presentation on motivating young people to participate in ARCORES through different possibilities, such as representing the ARY on the Boards of Directors of each country, volunteering in social projects in their own country and in other countries or in communication and visibility on social networks.
They can also collaborate in the organization of events and activities to benefit the projects, participating in the training that ARCORES offers, representing the network in work teams or organizations of the Church or Society, or through prayer. In addition, Sánchez was grateful that, in 2023, the Advent-Christmas booklet will have the collaboration of the ARY in the daily reflections and prayers.
Testimony of an ARY
The conference was completed with the testimony of Eduardo Sogliani, ARY from Venezuela who currently works on the technical team of ARCORES Venezuela. The young people showed interest and asked various questions, mostly related to volunteering.
Jakosalem and Sánchez also met, on the morning of July 28, with those responsible for the Plan B Foundation, the entity with which the Solidarity Network develops the Casa ARCORES-Casa Europa project, for the promotion of volunteering among young people, and is located in the Salamanca neighborhood of Pizarrales. In addition, both visited the other ARCORES España project in Salamanca, which is developed with the Cajas Solidarias association to distribute food to families without resources.
