Arcores in Portel held the Solidarity Heart Day in 2024 on Friday, September 6th, at the premises of the Nossa Senhora da Luz (Our Lady of Light) main church: Church Square, Parish Hall 1, and Parish Hall 2.
Arcores materializes in Portel through its two social works: Project Star, which assists nearly 200 children and pre-teens, and the Saint Thomas of Villanova Toy Library & Children’s Restaurant, which receives 275 beneficiaries Monday through Friday for 11 months of the year.
At this year’s Solidarity Heart Day, ARCORES counted on the integration and invaluable help of JAR and Monica Mothers in the preparation, promotion, and execution of the work.
The day began with a thanksgiving mass at 7 am, a bazaar, and the sale of feijoada portions in the morning. In the afternoon and evening, there was an information stand about ARCORES worldwide and in Portel, sale of various types of food, games and educational activities for children, invitation for new sponsors for Project Star, and the joy bingo – a bingo organized exclusively for children who, accompanied by their parents and/or guardians, received dozens of gifts.
At the end of the event, the distribution of basic food baskets to nearly 200 families concluded, with a flourish, the 2024 Solidarity Heart Day in Portel.
